RESEARCH

Our research aims to promote advances in the understanding of Early Childhood Development (ECD) in Brazil, by offering scientific evidence to support: (i) the measurement and monitoring of ECD; and (ii) the review and design of public policies aimed at reducing inequalities and promoting the development of all children. To achieve such objectives, our research is structured around three pillars, namely:

(i) Promoting mechanisms for measuring and monitoring ECD, leveraging existing public policies such as the delivery and use of the Child Health Booklet;

(ii) Producing cutting-edge knowledge on risk factors for ECD based on a cohort study through the assessment of biological measures, sleep patterns, as well as qualitative instruments on child development;

(iii) Evaluating the outcome of interventions acknowledged in the literature for their positive impact on ECD, such as parenting interventions and those related to practitioners' training.
